West Wind Island Resort to Close Through April 24 to Follow Coronavirus Health and Safety Guidelines

west wind inn coronavirusEffective March 27, 2020, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts has announced that West Wind Island Resort will comply with the City of Sanibel’s mandate that suspends rental lodging on Sanibel Island through April 24, 2020. Normandie Seaside Cafe will also close during this period.

“Our management team and our mission have always made the health and safety of our employees — as well as the general public — our top priority,” says Doug Babcock, Chief Executive Officer. “As leaders in hospitality management and marketing here in Southwest Florida, we desire to show leadership at a time it matters most. Although this ruling has many ramifications, we agree with local government. This is the safe, smart effort that reflects our commitment to our guests, our community and our outstanding staff.”

All Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts properties are currently accepting reservations for April 25, 2020 and beyond. This includes ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa (www.Tween-Waters.com or 800.223.5865), West Wind Island Resort (www.WestWindInn.com or 800.824.0476), Beachview Cottages (www.Beachview-Cottages.com or 800.860.0532), Castaways Cottages (www.Castaways-Cottages.com or 800.375.0152) and Sanibel Captiva Island Vacation Rentals (www.SCVacay.com or 877.388.5050). 

“As a principal of Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts for 44 years, we’ve been through a lot of challenges — be it hurricanes, the 911 tragedy, the 2008 meltdown,” notes Tony Lapi, Chairman. “This Coronavirus situation is obviously one-of-a-kind, and we strongly feel the best course is to err on the safe side.”

Recently, SCBR’s 4 resorts launched a “Rest Assured” campaign that allows guests with current reservations at any Sanibel Captiva Beach Resort to reschedule for a later date, or if necessary cancel the reservation, without fee if done within 24 hours of date of reservation. SCBR advises that guests needing to modify their reservations email or telephone the Reservations Departments at the respective resort.
